Division Weekly Updates: Junior Boys
We are officially half way through the summer (or half started for the eternal optimists!), and it has been a fantastic ride thus far. Just to recap for the Junior Boys: we have made new friends, played countless sports and activities, participated in all sorts of special evening programs, explored the beautiful Adirondacks, and are truly integrated into the Camp Echo Lake Community. This past week, in particular, we have started to roll out some of our really special and memorable activities for the summer… a trend that only continues over the next few weeks.
Last Sunday, we had a great opportunity to celebrate our Junior Boy spirit with a pool party hosted by Terry Begly and the Waterfront Staff. This is always a great evening because not only do we have a chance to have an extra swim on a hot night, but we also listen to some great music and just spend a little extra time bonding as a division. It was an awesome night!
Last Monday we were unfortunately rained out of our scheduled activity, but we made some last night changes and got together for a Luau themed viewing of “Moana.” While many people had seen the movie before, it was a fun night relaxing inside while the storm raged outside.
Last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were a mix of various daily activities, inter camps, tournaments, challenge nights, LEGO parties, campfires, TREK overnight camping trips, and much more! Even though some of these activities were changed or cancelled due to the weather, I am always amazed at the flexibility and positive attitudes of our campers and staff.
Finally, on Saturday night we were beyond excited to see the Juniors perform Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory. It was a phenomenal show with nearly 70 Juniors involved in some capacity. With only 3 weeks to audition, rehearse and memorize all the songs and lines, the boys and girls really hit a home run with their performances.
As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, this past week was just a taste of the fun and exciting things that are yet to come. Over the next two weeks, the Junior boys have even more fun coming up with Waterslide World, Tribal Apache Relay, Putt-Putt, and much more awaiting them. I am sure that the positivity of this summer will continue on as the weeks progress and I am excited to see all the boys grow and develop a little bit more this summer.
Until next week!
