We are so excited to introduce to you the 2024 Camp Echo Lake Leadership Team! This summer we have an incredible team of seasoned CEL staff that are dedicated to making 2024 the best summer ever. Their passion for camp, love of working with children, and hard-working nature make this team of individuals the perfect people to bring summer 2024 to life! 

 

The 2024 CEL Leadership team has an impressive combined 257 years of Echo Lake experience – we can’t wait for you and your campers to get to know them this summer!

Juniors – campers entering 5th grade and younger

Inters – campers entering 6th and 7th grade

LITs – campers entering 11th grade

Main Village – campers entering 7th grade and younger and our LITs

Head Counselors 

 

Conor Vandendries – Junior Boys Head Counselor

Conor can’t wait to be back at camp for his 8th summer! He lives in Warrensburg, NY and works hiring staff as part of the CEL year-round team. At camp, Conor loves Carnival and going to golf. He has been getting into swimming this year and is looking forward to his first Lake Swim this summer. Conor’s favorite canteen snack is Rice Krispies Treats. He’s looking forward to connecting with campers and staff this summer!

 

 

 

Amanda Saperstone – Junior Girls Head Counselor

Amanda is so excited to return to Echo Lake for her 20th summer! She lives in Warrensburg, NY with Conor and her adorable dog Teddy. During the year, she works in the CEL year-round office. Amanda loves to knit, sew, and swim! She loves going to dance during the summer and judging Group Sing, and her favorite canteen snack is pretzels. Amanda is most excited about helping new campers have the most magical first summer at camp, and getting to watch all her campers learn, grow, and build amazing friendships!

 

 


Jakob “BCJ” Weisblum – Inter Boys Head Counselor

BCJ is pumped for his 16th summer at the Lake! During the year, he lives in Manhattan and works as part of the CEL year-round team. At camp, he loves flag football and the Amazing Race. BCJ’s favorite canteen snack is a S’mores bar. He loves the excitement that comes with a new summer! BCJ can’t wait to reconnect with all the UIBs and get to know the LIBs. There are so many amazing things lined up for this summer and he’s excited to share them all with the inter boys!

 

 

 

Annie Simms – Inter Girls Head Counselor

Annie can’t wait to return to Echo Lake for her sixth summer! During the year, she lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband Jake and her two little boys, and works part time as a preschool teacher. Annie’s favorite camp activities are Echomania and Art, and she aspires to be a talented potter! Her favorite canteen snacks are Rice Krispies Treats and Original Lays. Annie is so excited to spend time with the campers this summer and watch them THRIVE!

 

 

 

Charlie Due – Senior Village Boys Head Counselor

Charlie is thrilled to be back at camp for his second summer! During the year, he lives in Champaign, Illinois and is a business teacher and basketball coach. His favorite movie is Silver Linings Playbook. Charlie loves intercamp games and tournaments, and playing Swiftie Ball with the campers (a Taylor Swift themed kickball game of his own invention). His favorite canteen snack is oreos! Charlie is looking forward to taking on his new role this summer and getting to work with everyone in Senior Village!

 

 

Alyssa “Mabes” Mayberry – Senior Village Girls Head Counselor

Mabes is so excited to return to Echo Lake for her sixth summer! During the year, she lives in Boise, Idaho and is an elementary school counselor. She also likes to hike, hang out with friends, and find new places to eat. Mabes loves Taylor Swift and has been to 5 of her concerts (soon to be 6)! At camp, her favorite activities are Regatta and Off Track Betting. Her favorite canteen snack is Goldfish. Mabes is looking forward to supporting the Senior Village girls to make sure they have the best summer ever!

 

 

Brian “Bri Bri” Cavanaugh – LIT Head Counselor

Bri Bri can’t wait to be back at camp for his seventh summer! During the year, he lives in New York City and teaches elementary school. At camp, Bri Bri enjoys going to General Swim and the Amazing Race! His favorite canteen snack is oreos. He is excited to help the LITs develop and grow into leaders on camp this summer!

Sam Wilkinson – Program Director & Assistant Director

Sam is looking forward to spending his 12th summer at camp! During the year, he lives in Syracuse, NY with Kelly and their two daughters, Isla and Indie. Sam’s favorite camp activities are soccer and Echomania. His favorite canteen snack is Rice Krispies Treats! This summer, Sam wants to ensure that he supports all of the activity staff so they can provide the highest quality instruction to our campers. In addition, he wants our campers to receive a diverse schedule that allows them to try new things, find new passions, and step outside of their comfort zones.  

 

 

Jake Simms – Activities Director

Jake can’t wait to return to camp for his ninth summer! Jake lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife Annie and their two kids, Louis and Cal. He is a college professor and also a 4-time Skee-Ball champion! At camp, Jake loves to be a part of Tribal and the Amazing Race. His favorite canteen snack is Mott’s gummies. He’s looking forward to helping make sure that the activities are fun and engaging for all the campers this summer!

 

 

 

Sara Langworthy – Girls Camp Program Coordinator

Sara is so excited to be returning to Echo Lake for her 12th summer! She is from Warrensburg, NY and lives in Old Orchard Beach, Maine during the school year. She is a rising senior at the University of New England in Portland, Maine, studying nursing. At camp, Sara loves gymnastics, Pickleball, Group Sing, and the Amazing Race! Her favorite canteen snacks are Rice Krispie Treats and Zee Zee’s S’mores bars. Sara is most excited to plan new and fun activities for Girls’ Camp to enjoy this summer, and also spend time at activities with the campers!

 

 

Carlos Turner – Boys Camp Program Coordinator

Carlos is thrilled to be back at Echo Lake for his fourth summer! During the year, he is a student at the University of South Carolina (Columbia). Carlos loves theatre, Pickleball, Tribal, and World Cup. His favorite canteen snack is Doritos. He has been a huge fan of the WWE since 2005 and goes to every show that comes to South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia – he even met “The Undertaker” when he was 7 years old! Carlos is excited to be working with all of the groups on Boys’ Camp this summer and helping to create the fun!

 

 

Annie Herbert – Senior Village Girls Program Coordinator

Annie is excited for her fourth summer at CEL! During the year, she lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota and is a 6th grade teacher. Annie loves spending time outside – weekends at the cabin in Northern Minnesota are her favorite! At camp, her favorite activity is spin and she looks forward to the Amazing Race! Her favorite canteen snack is Fruit Roll Ups. Annie is really looking forward to being back in the village! She is excited to help create some of the fun that helps kids have a great summer.

 

 

Josiah Hallman – Outdoor Coordinator

Josiah is looking forward to returning to camp for his fifth summer! During the year, he lives in Alberta, Canada and is a seminarian. At camp, Josiah loves swimming and Carnival. He has a special talent for assembling bunk beds during pre-season (and locating stray bunk bed pins) and is continually reading Lord of the Rings. Josiah’s favorite canteen snack is cool ranch Doritos. He is excited for another summer of working with our outdoors staff and facilitating safe fun in nature!

 

 

Jamie Thomas – Office Manager

Jamie is so excited for her fourth summer at the Lake! During the year, she lives in Westchester, NY and works as a school librarian. She spends her weekends during the winter instructing at Gore Mountain! Jamie’s favorite camp activities are ceramics and Silent Disco. Her favorite canteen snack is Fritos. Jamie loves hearing from and catching up with returning CEL families during the summer, and getting to know our new CEL families! She is looking forward to helping families once again this summer!

 

 

Annie Nelson – Health Center Director

Annie is counting down the days until she returns to Echo Lake for her second summer! When she’s not at camp, Annie lives in Elizabethtown, NY and works as a full time nursing instructor. She also has two dogs who she loves! At camp, Annie loves Friday Night Live and swimming. Her favorite canteen snack is a Chipwich! She is excited for her new role as Health Center Director, and for even more organization!

Kelly Wilkinson – Main Village Director & Assistant Director

Kelly can’t wait for her 18th summer at Camp Echo Lake! During the year, she lives in Syracuse, NY with her husband Sam and their two daughters, Isla and Indie. Kelly works year-round for CEL and is currently earning her degree as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor! At camp, Kelly loves the Amazing Race and going to dance. Her favorite canteen snack is fruit snacks. Kelly is most looking forward to returning to her role after being out on maternity leave last summer!

 

 

Nick “Stew” Stoulig – Senior Village Director

Stew is excited to be back at camp for his 23rd summer in the Adirondacks! During the year, he lives in New Orleans, Louisiana and is a middle school teacher. He is currently working on his doctorate in Educational Leadership. Stew loves going to Sky Village and his favorite evening program is Off Track Betting! His favorite canteen snack is Gushers. He’s excited to work with a great group of staff to provide an amazing summer for our campers!

 

 

 

Laurie Rinke Langworthy – Owner/Director

Laurie is counting down the days until her 39th summer at Echo Lake! During the year, she lives in Warrensburg, NY with her husband Darby. Laurie’s house is currently bustling with two teenagers, Megan and Jacob, and two dogs (including her 7-month old golden retriever puppy, Bailey)! At camp, she loves running campfires and her favorite activity is dance. Laurie’s favorite canteen snack is Rice Krispies Treats! She is most looking forward to giving hugs, the magic of the Echo Bush, doing S’morientation, and being together around the campfire, under the Adirondack stars.

 

 

Tony Stein – Owner/Director

Tony has been at camp for over 50 years and can’t wait for another summer under the pines! During the year, he lives in New York City with his wife Emily and their two children. He loves to watch the Amazing Race at camp each summer and play Pickleball! Tony’s favorite canteen snack is Oreos. He wants everyone who comes through the gates of Echo Lake this summer to feel like a loved and appreciated member of our community.
