From the Clipboard of Tony – Happy New Year from Warrensburg!
Happy New Year to all Echo Lakers!
Emily, Evan, Violet and I were fortunate again to spend the holidays season in Warrensburg, where it started as a green/brown holiday season, but ended up white as we eventually saw five to six inches of downfall. We started in short sleeves on Christmas Day and ended up bundled up by New Year’s.
I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday season, wherever you found yourselves! As we turn the page on 2015, and head into 2016, my family and I remain so thankful for being a part of the Echo Lake community. We loved seeing everyone at our reunions and the laughs and smiles we saw on the faces of current campers, former campers, staff members and moms and dads was such a special way to bring 2015 to a close.
So now we start to rev up for the summer of 2016. Staff hiring hits full blast, projects big and small at camp continue unabated throughout the winter, regardless of weather, and everyone here is thinking and working hard towards making 2016 a special summer for all of our campers and staff. We are also getting excited here about our upcoming Head Staff planning weekend at the end of January. Like the reunions, it is a threshold moment during the year as it reminds us that the summer is coming in just six short months! Getting to spend a working weekend with the Echo Lake leadership team allows us to reflect on what is working great at Echo Lake – and also what we want to improve and enhance at camp. We see ourselves as ever evolving, when it comes to how we care for children to the activities we offer and from the wild and crazy events to all the cool improvements to our camp facility.
We will be keeping you abreast of so many exciting things along the way as he head into the summer 2016! In the meantime, enjoy the winter – and know that warmer weather and time spent in a most special place lies just ahead!
Sincerely,
Tony, Emily, Evan and Violet
