Camp Echo Lake – Inter Boys: Week 4 Recap
Early in the week, the Inter Boys Division traveled with the Inter Girls Division to Glens Falls to eat dinner and enjoy an evening of bowling and the arcade. Overall, the boys posted some very impressive scores. In fact, most of them ending up beating me! To give the boys a chance to expand their bonds within the division, we mixed up the groups on each lane. All of the boys ended up having a great night!
In addition to some of the all-camp programs like Inter-arts and Friday Night Live (FNL), the Inters participated in some awesome games that were organized by their counselors.
The Lower Inters participated in the “Great Egg Drop” (mentioned in last week’s recap), and the Upper Inters hosted a basketball / poker tournament on the Main Village courts. The evening was a success! All of the boys had a lot of fun playing and planning with their friends.
It was the Inters turn for Special Day this past Saturday. The boys participated in four different schedules that were organized by their fantastic staff.
The LIBEs theme for the day was “Freedom” or “Choose Your Own Adventure.” The group was given the option to choose what they wanted to participate in each period. After a restful morning of cartoons in bed, the LIBEs watched a movie, played soccer, poker, casino games and, of course, snacked on one of their favorites – chipwiches! The day was capped off by a choice between either basketball under the lights in the Senior Village or stargazing.
The LIBW staff wanted to throw the boys for a loop by saying that there was not going to be a Special Day for the group until Monday. After lineup, they walked over to the lodge for what was supposed to be cooking, but they were actually surprised to see that their Special Day was about to begin. It started with face painting, and continued with a wild, crazy, messy day!
On a mission to find the evil Saucy J, the UIBEs Special Day took the boys all around camp searching for clues, taking on roles of double agents and diplomats, as well as enjoying some fun and creative activities.
The “GI Joes” of the UIBW had a Special Day filled with activities and obstacle courses that were designed for team-building and group bonding. At the end of each period, the boys attempted to advance to the next “GI Joe” rank. No Special Day would be complete for any “soldier” if they didn’t receive chipwiches (Camp Echo Lake’s most cherished snack).
The Upper Inter Boys played inter-camp tennis, soccer, basketball and baseball at Baco this past week. Although we didn’t fare very well on the scoreboard, the boys had a great time playing at a different camp against new competition.
It’s always great when the sun is shining, but sometimes, a little bit a rain offers a welcomed change of pace. The rain gave the boys the chance to bond during bunk time over Lego, poker and other card games.
Officer Beaver’s horse, Sabrina, was stolen this week by the criminals known as Troby Breekay (Toby B-K) and Jacko-Zuma (Matt Jackowitz). The hunt is on to find these culprits and bring justice to Echo Lake! Stay tuned…
Apache Relay, Glamping, Bingo Night, 6u & 7u basketball tournaments, Lower Inter performance of Shrek and the Upper Inters preparing to host Friday Night Services.
