GIRLS’ CAMP SPECIAL DAY – “OFF WITH YOUR HAIR SALON”

Monday was filled with excitement as we had our Girls’ Camp Special Day, which revolved around the girls visiting different shops in the fictional Warrensburg Plaza.  The girls were told that they needed to try to convince each store to donate money to save “Off With Your Hair Salon” (which is this summer’s lineup theme on Girls Camp).  As part of their Special Day, the girls visited an arcade where they played games like Human Foosball and Human Wack-a-Mole (real-life versions of the arcade games).  They visited a Fortune Teller where they were told their futures, and visited “Laurie’s Self-Help Shop” where they did a “feel-good” activity.  Last, but certainly not least, the girls visited the salon where they made barrettes, got their hair wrapped/braided and their faces painted. The day ended with a movie (It Takes Two – starring the Olsen twins) in The Lodge.  After the movie and Chipwiches, they headed off to a pool party (the perfect ending to a very hot day).

A SPECIAL EVENING – MINIONS!

Just when the Junior Girls thought that Special Day couldn’t get any better, they were told that they were going off camp for an evening of Putt-Putt golf.  Due to some unfortunate weather, we had a change of plans, and headed out to Aviation Mall instead to see Minions.  The girls went nuts when they were told that they were going to see the hit children’s movie of the summer!  We ended the night eating popcorn and laughing at the silliness of the Minions.

I’d have to say that it was a memorable day for all of the Junior Girls.

UNITED WE STAND

As always, the girls showed extreme spirit and enthusiasm during Girls’ Camp Special Day.  You could tell by how invested they all were in raising money to save “Off With Your Hair Salon” that the bonds are very strong on Girls Camp.  From the Frosh all the way to the Upper Inters, the girls are definitely united as one.

TRIBAL SWIM / APACHE RELAY

The week began with Tribal Swim last Sunday, and ended with the Apache Relay.  Representing either Mohawk or Iroquois, each camper played a role in the extended relay race that took approximately 2 ½ hours to complete.  There was a lot of excitement throughout the race, especially at the end when everyone cheered for the final runners of the Glory Run to the finish line.  Apache truly is an event where you see the whole camp come together in a very supportive way while showing off their camp spirit.

INTER-CAMP

This past week, the Upper Junior Girls participated in three different athletic events during an inter-camp at Walden.  They enjoyed participating in the competition and kept their spirits high, even during the events that they didn’t win.

MINUTE TO WIN IT

The final “Minute To Win It” program will take place this coming week.  Much like the TV show, each competitor will have one minute to complete a task. We are hopeful that a Junior Girl will be the one to represent Junior Camp in the finals!

SEIZING THE REMAINING DAYS OF CAMP

The Junior Girl group leaders and counselors have been doing everything possible to make the remaining days of camp special for the girls.  They have been planning special events for their groups like stargazing, raiding canteen and impromptu dance parties (to name a few).  It’s great to see how connected the groups have become, and how these moments of spontaneity add even more fun to the day!

COMING UP

Coming up this week, the Junior Girls will be going on their big trip to Waterslide World.  All summer long, the girls have been looking forward to this trip with great anticipation.  It is sure to be a fantastic day for all involved!
