We couldn’t be more excited to introduce to you the 2025 Camp Echo Lake Leadership Team! We are so proud to have an amazing group of experienced CEL staff ready to make Summer 2025 one for the books! This group of professionals is made up of hard-working, passionate, individuals dedicated to making the Camp Echo Lake experience the best it can be!

The 2025 CEL Leadership team has an impressive combined 284 years of Echo Lake experience – we can’t wait for you and your campers to get to know them this summer!

Directors & Village Directors

 

Laurie Rinke Langworthy – Owner & Director

Laurie is counting down the days until Summer 2025 – her 40th summer at camp! She loves being an Owner & Director of Camp Echo Lake. Originally from Port Washington, NY, Laurie graduated from Emory University in 1997 with a degree in Psychology and Education (and a minor in dance!) and earned her Masters in Social Work from NYU in 1999. She lives in Warrensburg with her husband Darby, and step children, Megan (18) and Jacob (15). Among the many things she does, she serves on the Warrensburg School Board! Laurie is proud to have created Camp Inspire – a Leadership Development Camp for 7th-12th graders that serves the local community. She is looking forward to Group Sing, Carnival, and Campfires! Laurie is excited to have the opportunity to positively impact campers, staff, and parents this summer and, of course, to run s’more campfires!

 

Tony Stein – Owner & Director

Tony can’t wait for another summer at Echo Lake! He has spent 55+ years at camp! Tony lives in New York City with his wife, Emily, and their children, Evan (16) and Violet (13). He spends the whole year getting ready for the summer as Owner & Director! He graduated from Skidmore College in 1985 and got his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1990. A fun fact about Tony – he led the first 4n4 trip across the western United States in 1986! It will always be one of his favorite highlights of his long camp career. The 4n4 is still going strong today and is truly a seminal moment in a camper’s Echo Lake Journey! At camp, Tony loves playing basketball, being a part of the Amazing Race, and especially driving the hayride at Carnival!

 

Kelly Wilkinson – Main Village Director & Assistant Director

Kelly can’t wait to spend her 19th summer at Echo Lake! She is one of CEL’s Assistant Directors, as well as the Main Village Director – supporting all of our campers entering 7th grade and younger and their staff throughout the summer. She works year-round for Echo Lake, and has Masters degrees in Education and Mental Health Counseling. Kelly lives in Syracuse with her husband Sam and their two daughters, Isla (3) and Indie (almost 2), who also love camp! Her favorite camp activities are dance and Carnival. Kelly is excited to ensure that all of our campers have a wonderful summer and see old and new faces!

 

Nick “Stew” Stoulig – Senior Village Director

Stew is excited to be back at camp for his 24th summer in the Adirondacks! During the year, he lives in New Orleans, Louisiana and is a middle school teacher. Stew has a bachelor’s degree in Education, a Masters in Professional School Counseling, and is pursuing his PhD in Educational Leadership. Stew loves going to Sky Village and his favorite evening program is Off Track Betting! He’s excited to work with a great group of staff to provide an amazing summer for our campers!

 

 

Boys’ Camp

 

Jakob “BCJ” Weisblum – Boys’ Camp Head Counselor

BCJ is so excited to return to camp for his 17th summer at camp! He has spent his year living in New York City and working year-round for CEL as a staffing recruiter. BCJ graduated from Boston University in 2020 with his degree in Psychology. He loves joining in flag football activities over the summer, and can’t wait for this year’s Echomania! BCJ is so excited to welcome back all of the returning campers, and to introduce all of the new campers to the unmatched Boys’ Camp energy! If you ask him, there’s nothing quite like starting the day at Boys’ Camp lineup – you never know who will show up!

 

Duncan Lambert – Boys’ Camp Assistant Head Counselor

Duncan can’t wait to be back at camp for his 4th summer! After spending the last few summers as a Group Leader and Camper Specialist, he is ready to step into his new role as the Boys’ Camp Assistant Head Counselor. Duncan has spent his off-season finishing his senior year at Grinnell College – he’ll be graduating with his BA in Psychology with a concentration in Education next month, and he’s hoping to become an elementary school teacher starting this fall. He hails from Houston, Texas, and has actually visited all 50 states! At camp, Duncan loves heading to gymnastics with the campers and enjoying the Silent Disco. He is excited to be a part of the behind-the-scenes work that helps to create the magic of camp while also getting to connect with individual campers and staff members this summer!

 

Matthew Grinberg – Boys’ Camp Program Coordinator

Matthew is pumped to be back at the Lake for his 9th summer! He will be the Boy’s Camp Program Coordinator. Matthew has spent the year in Providence, Rhode Island finishing his studies at Brown University – he graduates in May with his degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science! Matthew’s favorite camp activities are hockey and Counselor Cabaret. Find him during free play if you want to learn how to solve a Rubik’s cube! Matthew grew up at Echo Lake and is so excited to be running Boys’ Camp Lineup this summer, and making every day fun and exciting for our campers!

 

Conor Vandendries – Boys’ Camp Head Counselor Support

Conor is thrilled to be returning to CEL for his 9th summer! He spends his winters living in Warrensburg and working full-time for camp as a staffing recruiter. This summer will look a little different for Conor, as he and his wife Amanda are preparing to welcome their first baby in June! He’s excited to be able to both spend time with his growing family, and provide support on Boys’ Camp this summer. Conor grew up in Ireland and graduated from Maynooth University in 2016. He loves to play pickleball and his favorite special event is Carnival! Conor can’t wait to have so much fun with the campers and staff and make new memories this summer. He loves to see our new campers fall in love with their summer home and make new friends!

 

Girls’ Camp

 

Annie Simms – Girls’ Camp Head Counselor

Annie is so excited to be back at CEL for her 7th summer, and 5th as a Head Counselor. When she isn’t at camp, Annie lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with her husband Jake, and is pursuing her degree in Educational Studies while also raising her three little boys Louis (4), Cal (2), and Crosby (4 months)! She loves to cook delicious and nourishing meals, and gets a lot of inspiration from watching cooking competition shows. Annie’s favorite camp activities are Echomania and art, and she’ll never say no to a Rice Krispies Treat at canteen! Annie can’t wait to spend time with each and every group on Girls’ Camp this summer!

 

Nora Hull – Girls’ Camp Assistant Head Counselor

Nora can’t wait to return to camp for her 3rd summer. She previously worked as a Group Leader and Camper Specialist and is thrilled to get back into the swing of camp as the Girls’ Camp Assistant Head Counselor! Nora graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Social Welfare last June, and has spent this year pursuing her Masters in Social Work at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa – she’ll be graduating in May! Nora has also been learning sign language over the past few years. Her favorite things at camp are Friday Night Live, Silent Disco, and Lake Swims! Nora can’t wait to lean into her new leadership role and make lots of fun memories with Girls’ Camp this summer!

 

Annie Henson – Girls’ Camp Program Coordinator

Annie is thrilled to be returning to Echo Lake for her fourth summer! She previously spent three summers working on the Theatre team, and is so excited to be the Girls’ Camp Program Coordinator this year. Annie graduated with her degree in Theatre Performance in 2023, and has spent her off-season in Springfield, Missouri, working at an ice rink and being involved in local community theatre. At camp, she loves hoedown and, of course, all of the theatre performances! Annie is excited to take on a new challenge this summer and to have the opportunity to be involved in the creation of camp fun! 

 

Amanda Saperstone – Maternity Leave

While Amanda’s summer will look a bit different this year, she is thrilled to be part of the CEL family for her 21st summer! She and her husband Conor are so excited to be welcoming their first baby (a girl!) to their family this June. Amanda spends her off-season working full-time for camp and living in Warrensburg – she loves spending time outside in the snow with her dog, Teddy. She graduated from Smith College with her bachelor’s in education and psychology in 2017. At camp, Amanda loves Group Sing, dance, and having fun with all the campers on Girls’ Camp. She is planning to make several visits this summer – she can’t imagine a summer without camp!

 

Senior Village

 

Charlie Due – Senior Village Boys Head Counselor

Charlie is pumped to be back at the Lake for his 3rd summer, and returning to the position of Senior Village Boys Head Counselor! He graduated from Eastern Illinois University with his degree in Organizational Development in 2020. Charlie has spent his off-season in Knoxville, Tennessee working as a Special Education Teaching Assistant as he works towards his Special Education Teaching License at the University of Tennessee. He is also a baseball coach! Charlie loves playing basketball with the Senior Village boys, and his favorite special event during the summer is the Neon Glow Party. Charlie can’t wait to see all the returning Senior Village boys this summer, and get to know the new Lower Villagers crossing the road for the first time! 

 

Maddie Hartog – Senior Village Girls Head Counselor

Maddie is so excited to return to camp for her 12th summer! She will be the Senior Village Girls Head Counselor – in the past she has worked at camp as a Group Leader and Camper Specialist (and she was a CEL camper herself)! Maddie is about to graduate from Grinnell College with her BA in Anthropology. She has spent the year studying, playing frisbee, and attending weekly trivia with her friends! Maddie also loves to read and swim in her free time. She is so excited to be back in the Senior Village this summer, and especially to go on the big trips to New Hampshire and Cape Cod with the campers! 

 

Marcus Golczyk – 4n4 Head Counselor

Marcus is thrilled to be back for another summer as the 4n4 Head Counselor – his 7th at camp overall! He has also been the Senior Village Boys Head Counselor, Senior Village Program Coordinator, and a group leader in the past. Marcus spends his off-seasons as a Grade 6 French Immersion Teacher in Yellowknife, Canada. He has a combined BA and BEd from the University of Lethbridge in Alberta. Marcus is very excited to be on the 4n4 trip again this year! He is thrilled to be working alongside such a talented group of staff, and is excited to see the trip from a different lens now that he has done it once before!

 

Alyssa Trad – Senior Village Program Coordinator

Alyssa can’t wait to be back for her second summer at CEL! She will be the Senior Village Program Coordinator. Alyssa attended undergrad at SUNY Brockport and graduated with her degree in Physical Education and Adapted Physical Education in 2018.  She got her Masters in Adapted and Adventure Education at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in 2019, and will be completing her PhD in Kinesiology at the University of Illinois right before camp! Alyssa is a professor at University of Wisconsin Eau Clair. At camp, she loves playing golf and watching all the theatre shows! She can’t wait to get to know the Senior Village campers this summer and help make every day fun!

 

LITs

 

Brian “Bri Bri” Cavanaugh – LIT Head Counselor

Brian is counting down the days until he is back at Echo Lake for his 8th summer! He will be spending his second summer as LIT Head Counselor this summer, after serving as Boys’ Camp Program Coordinator, group leader, and waterfront in the past. Brian lives in New York City and is working towards his B.S. in Psychology. He will never say no to a lake swim and lives for the Amazing Race each summer! Brian can’t wait to help mold the LITs into great leaders, and to help give them their best summer ever! 

 

Carlos Turner – LIT Group Leader

Carlos is so excited to be back at camp for his 5th summer! He will be an LIT Group Leader this summer, after spending past summers as Boys’ Camp Program Coordinator, Group Leader, and Theatre Activity Specialist. Carlos is graduating from the University of South Carolina in May, where he majored in theatre. He was cast as the lead actor (Sebastian) in William Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” this year! Carlos loves everything about camp, but especially campfires, Flashlight Sing, Friday Night Live, theatre shows, and World Cup Day. He is beyond excited to be working with the 2025 LITs this summer and helping to organize Tribal!

 

Program

 

Sam Wilkinson – Program Director & Assistant Director

Sam is as excited as ever for his 13th summer at Camp Echo Lake! Sam is an Assistant Director and also the Program Director. He works year-round for CEL as the staffing director, and lives in Syracuse, NY with his wife Kelly and two daughters, Isla (3) and Indie (almost 2). Sam grew up in England and has his degree in Physical Education and School Sport from Edge Hill University, as well as his PGCE in Primary Education from the University of Cumbria. Sam’s favorite camp activity is soccer, and he is pumped that it’s an Echo Mania summer. He’s looking forward to making sure that every day at camp is filled with fun!

 

Jake Simms – Activities Director

Jake can’t wait to be back at CEL for his 10th summer! He will be returning to his role as Activities Director. Jake lives in Knoxville, Tennessee with his wife Annie and their three boys Louis (4), Cal (2), and Crosby (4 months) and works as a professor during the off-season. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in 2018, earned his Masters in Sport Leadership, and completed his Ph.D. in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism at the University of Illinois. He is also a 4-time Skee-ball champion! At camp, Jake’s favorite activity is basketball and he loves the Amazing Race. This summer Jake is looking forward to making sure that activities are exciting and engaging for the campers!

 

Arran McKay – Outdoor Director

Arran is excited to return to camp for his 7th summer in a new position – Outdoor Director! He has spent past summers as 4n4 Trip Leader and Boating Head Specialist. He spends his off-season in Abergavenny, Wales and is a skilled woodworker (a hobby he picked up during lockdown in 2020). Arran’s favorite camp activity is, of course, boating, and he is looking forward to Echo Mania this summer! He is excited for the challenges that come with his new role, and making sure that all campers have amazing outdoor experiences this summer!

 

Jamie Thomas – Office Manager

Jamie is looking forward to spending her 5th summer at Echo Lake as Office Manager! During the year she lives in Westchester, NY and works as a school librarian. She has bachelor’s degrees in Secondary Education and English, and Masters degrees in Middle School Information Science and Middle School Reading. Jamie is also a nationally certified snowboard instructor – she loves the winter! Of the many things Jamie loves about camp, Silent Disco and Ice Cream Parties might top the list. She loves connecting with and helping families on the phone during the summer!
